Amateya Kalisto cafê
Amateya Kalisto cafê
Located in Kurihara, Adachi Ward, Amateya Kalisto cafê crafts house bean-to-bar chocolates and coffee, offering everything from vibrant ruby chocolate and bonbons to warm chocolat chaud.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
From hand-sorting raw cacao beans to pulling espresso, Amateya Kalisto cafê in Adachi Ward’s Kurihara neighborhood pairs house-made bean-to-bar chocolate with coffee in a quiet, unhurried setting.
The chocolate display focuses on single-origin integrity and clean craftsmanship. The ruby chocolate, made without added colorings or flavorings purely from selected cacao bean components, presents a vibrant berry-like perfume and bright acidity that melt smoothly across the tongue. Individually crafted bonbons also express distinct personalities, such as melt-in-the-mouth truffles, a Honey-Rum 70% dark with mild honeyed warmth, and tart passion fruit pieces. Orangettes and chocolat orange slices, balancing citrus freshness against dark cacao, offer further contemplative bites.
Beyond confections, the drink menu showcases chocolaterie technique. Comforting hot chocolate drinks like chocolat chaud sit alongside amazake chocolat, which blends house-made sweet fermented rice with chocolate for a soothing cup. Pairing a fresh pour of aromatic coffee with your choice of chocolate makes for a welcome respite during a quiet afternoon.
Seating includes counter stools and regular tables, along with traditional tatami seating tucked in the back, all framed by warm timber accents. Sweets and drinks can be enjoyed in-house or purchased to take away. Please note that payments are cash only, so it is best to prepare yen notes and coins before visiting.
